The emergency preparedness challenge

Phew! Another emergency kit review done!

Emergency preparedness is not a thing you can just take care of one weekend. The most important things — water! food! flashlights and batteries! — are easy and cheap enough, but being and staying quite well prepared? That is a costly, endless process of organizing and shopping. Oh, and you have to do this thing that may never matter in spite of the fact that you probably feel overwhelmed by real, intense, and very right now economic and life stresses and pressures. It’s challenging to afford the time and the stuff, and I actually feel quite blessed that I’ve been able to invest quite a bit of both in this project.

But it amazes me how incomplete and half-arsed it feels in spite of that.
