I charged my phone with the sun! This is my new Solio solar charger, sitting by a bright window (on a rather gray day), with some of my more solar-powered plants. It’s part of my emergency kit, but I will also regularly use it to charge electronics. I wonder how many charges before I’ve offset the energy costs of manufacturing the thing in the first place?
Update: there is never enough sun in Vancouver, not even on the summer soltice, to make this device generally useful. It will charge, but it’s dog slow. I was kinda hoping solar panels had come far enough that it would be okay, but … nope.
