Online shoppers are determined
Interesting how often people try to buy one of my books with a credit card that gets declined … and they just switch to another card. About 70% of declines are followed by a successful purchase. I’ve seen some people persist through 3 and 4 declines before succeeding.
E-commerce “conversion” — the percentage of people who buy something, whose browsing is “converted” into a sale — is mostly seen by online vendors as a fragile thing, easily derailed by glitches. But in this way, at least, it actually seems to be quite robust: once people have decided to buy something, by dog, they don’t give up!
