Ratings reversal

Just recently I started posting little mini-reviews with ratings again for the first time in ages. I think I am going to drop the rating part. That needle is moved by subjective factors far more than objective ones. Perhaps what matters about a story is not how supposedly objectively “good” it is… but just the sheer bloody joy of being provoked by it. And sharing that experience with others.

I like the “Honest Trailers” model: it’s just fun to make fun of things, even (or especially) when we love them. It also requires actual insight. Here’s a good random example I came across today, about the sci-fi show we all love to love, Firefly:

“Maybe don’t think too hard about the whole confederacy-in-space thing. Uuuuugh.”

Funny. Insightful and dark! But funny.
