Two interesting bird sightings

First, I saw a hawk alternating between tearing apart a pigeon carcass and TRYING TO GET HIS TALONS UNSTUCK FROM IT. Basically eating herself free.

And then, just a couple minutes later, this heron. She was fishing about 20cm from the edge of the path beside Lost Lagoon in downtown Vancouver. And she caught a fish about 5 seconds after this shot! Just a wee teensy one.

I have seen a lot of herons, but never one so close I could have reached out and touched it.
